Role Summary

The mobile maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing mine production drills, trucks, muckers, and other mining equipment. They are also in charge of performing preventative maintenance (PMs), as well as scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all mobile equipment within the mine. This position will involve working in both underground and surface environments.

Main Responsibilities | Activities

  • Perform routine inspections, lubrication, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on all underground mining

  • Perform all mobile maintenance duties on mobile equipment which includes, but is not limited to, drills, bolters, trucks, muckers, shotcrete mixers
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and vendors
  • Read, interpret, understand and utilize mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, electrical drawings, and OEM manuals and procedures
  • Commission, maintain, and repair mine production drills, trucks, muckers, and troubleshoot / repair CANBUS/RCS/TCAD drill rig systems and instruments
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues as well as develop effective repair solutions to prevent equipment breakdowns.
  • Perform scheduled tasks to extend the lifespan of equipment Such as, Preventative Maintenance (PMs), Planned component replacement (PCRs), major and minor repairs.
  • Conduct systematic checks of pneumatic, lubrication, hydraulics, and fire suppression systems.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and state/federal regulations to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in SAP.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, boom trucks and underground mining equipment.
  • Ability to weld, use cutting torch, and fabricate.
  • Train and mentor junior mobile maintenance technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience with underground mobile maintenance in a mining environment required.
  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic required.
  • Mobile Maintenance certifications highly regarded.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment required.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required. Proficiency in SAP preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work independently with a high safety standard.
