Role Summary

The Surface Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safety and supervision of all surface and Batch Plant personnel and equipment while ensuring all aspects of the surface and Batch Plant operations are following the company’s goals. 

Main Responsibilities | Activities

•    Oversee the safety of all surface and Batch Plant operations, recognize health and safety hazards and remediate as soon as possible. 
•    Responsibility for day-to-day shift planning and co-ordination of production levels, workers, equipment, levels, and supplies. 
•    Conduct daily workplace inspections of all working areas. 
•    Conduct daily “toolbox” safety discussions 
•    Partner with maintenance and electrical groups to ensure all preventative maintenance tasks are completed on time. 
•    Work with Technical Services, Maintenance, and other contractors to ensure all mine plans are met. 
•    Produce shift reports to management. 
•    Ensure employee compliance of policies and procedures 
•    Occasionally use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and other mechanical instruments and equipment to assist operations personnel in operating equipment and property. 
•    Other duties as assigned. 

Education, Qualifications and Experience

•    High School Diploma or GED required.  Secondary Engineering education preferred. 
•    At least 5 years of mining or plant experience required. 
•    At least 3 years of supervisory experience required. 
•    Solid understanding of the mining process from planning, maintenance, and operations. 
•    Solid understanding of all Batch Plant equipment.

•    Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts. 
•    Participate in HSEC training provided to them
•    Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
